Frost Museum in Motion

Frost Museum in Motion is a fun, beginner-friendly dance experience where adults come together to learn an iconic routine, make new friends, and become part of the entertainment at the Jack Frost Museum Fall Festival. No dance experience is needed, just a willingness to laugh, try something new, and create unforgettable memories both on and off the dance floor.

Don’t Just Watch the Fun.

What if your Fall Festival experience began weeks before the gates even opened?

What if you spent four evenings laughing, learning, meeting new people, and preparing for a moment when the music starts, the crowd gathers, and you step forward as part of the show?

Frost Museum in Motion Dance Classes invite you to do exactly that.

You do not need years of dance training. You do not need perfect rhythm. You do not even need someone to sign up with you.

You simply need to be ready to try something new, have a great time, and say yes to an experience you will never forget.

Because the Jack Frost Museum Fall Festival is a 21-and-older event, participants must be at least 21 years old.

More Than Choreography

This is not about training to become a professional dancer.

It is about coming together with a group of people who are willing to step outside their normal routine and create something memorable.

During four one-hour classes, Katherine will guide you through the legendary Thriller choreography one section at a time. Along the way, you will laugh through the tricky parts, celebrate the moments when everything clicks, and discover just how much fun it is to work toward a shared goal.

No one is expecting perfection.

We are expecting energy, encouragement, and a whole lot of fun.

Think You Can’t Dance?

That makes you exactly the kind of person who should join us.

These classes are created for beginners. Most participants will not arrive with extensive dance experience, and many may have no experience at all.

The choreography will be taught in easy-to-follow sections, with adjustments available for different abilities and comfort levels. Everyone will be learning together, so there is no reason to feel behind or out of place.

Bring your sense of humor, your willingness to learn, and your best “I’ll give it a try” attitude.

We will take care of the rest.

Your Moment in the Spotlight

After four weeks of classes and one dress rehearsal, it will be time to bring everything together.

During the Jack Frost Museum Fall Festival, your group will perform the iconic Thriller dance twice for a live audience.

Imagine the festival in full swing. Guests are enjoying collector cars, live music, food, drinks, and a beautiful October evening.

Then the first notes begin.

The crowd turns toward the performance area.

You take your place alongside the friends you have made over the past four weeks.

And suddenly, you are not simply attending the Fall Festival.

You are one of the reasons people will remember it.

Create a Look That is Totally You

Your costume can be creepy, creative, funny, dramatic, or delightfully simple.

Transform yourself into a classic zombie, invent an original character, or add a few eerie details to clothing you already own. There is no need for expensive costumes, professional makeup, or elaborate special effects.

You choose how far you want to take it.

We will share costume inspiration and makeup ideas to help bring your character to life.

Come for the Dance. Leave with a Crew.

Some people will sign up with a spouse, partner, or group of friends.

Others will arrive alone.

Within a few classes, it may be difficult to remember who knew one another before it all began.

You will spend Thursday evenings practicing, laughing, cheering each other on, and working toward the same exciting moment. That kind of shared experience has a way of turning strangers into teammates and teammates into friends.

Watching Creates a Memory

This October, choose the story.

Learn a dance recognized around the world.

Create a character that is entirely your own.

Meet people you may never have crossed paths with otherwise.

Try something that feels a little outside your comfort zone.

Step forward when the music begins.

Feel the energy of the crowd.

And experience the unforgettable thrill of knowing that you did not just attend the Fall Festival.

You helped bring it to life.

This fun, community-focused experience gives adults the opportunity to learn the iconic dance from Thriller and perform it live during the Jack Frost Museum Fall Festival.

Not at all. The classes are designed for beginners, including people who have never danced before. Experienced dancers are welcome, too.

You will fit right in! The steps will be broken into manageable sections, and perfect execution is not expected. The goal is to have fun, try something new, and enjoy the experience together.

Anyone age 21 or older may register. There is no maximum age, and the experience is open to all body types and fitness levels.

No. Couples, friends, and family members are encouraged to participate together, but you are also welcome to register by yourself.

Not at this time because the Fall Festival is a 21-and-older event. Parents of interested younger dancers may email Lori@JackFrostMuseum.org to be added to a future interest list.

Classes will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 PM on Thursdays, September 3, 10, 17, and 24. A dress rehearsal will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday, October 1.

The group will perform twice during the Jack Frost Museum Fall Festival on Saturday, October 3. Performances are tentatively scheduled for 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM.

Attendance at every class is encouraged, but missing one class should not prevent you from participating. The dress rehearsal is also strongly encouraged but not mandatory.

Speak with the instructor as soon as possible. She will help determine whether you can catch up and what practice options may be available.

Participants will learn a beginner-friendly version of the iconic Thriller choreography. The dance will be divided into smaller sections and adjusted when needed for the group.

Mostly. Some sections may have different rows moving in opposite directions to create the full group performance effect.

Yes. The instructor can suggest adjustments for different abilities, fitness levels, and physical limitations.

Practice videos and additional rehearsal opportunities are being explored. Any available resources will be shared with registered participants.

Wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and supportive tennis or athletic shoes. Water will be provided, but you may bring your own water bottle. You do not need to bring any dance equipment.

Classes will be held at Jack Frost Museum, either inside the museum, in the parking area, or on the grass near the museum, depending on the weather and the needs of the group.

Classes may be moved indoors. If extreme weather requires a cancellation, participants will be notified by text, email, social media, and the Jack Frost Museum website. Makeup information will also be provided.

Jack Frost Museum is a historic property, and some outdoor areas include grass or uneven ground. Reasonable efforts will be made to accommodate participants, but anyone with mobility concerns should contact the museum before registering.

The dance is approximately two minutes long and will be performed at ground level in a designated area during the Fall Festival. The exact location will be confirmed before the event.

The performance is planned for outdoors but may be moved inside if weather conditions require it.

Yes. Friends and family may attend by purchasing their own Fall Festival tickets here. Free guest passes are not included with registration.

Yes. Photos and video are expected to be captured, and available images and recordings will be shared with participants afterward.

Participants are encouraged to create a zombie-inspired or themed character, but costumes may be as simple or elaborate as desired. You may use clothing and accessories you already own.

Yes, as long as they are safe and do not restrict your vision, movement, or breathing or interfere with other performers. Costume and makeup suggestions will be provided, and a best costume prize is planned.

Registration includes four dance classes, the dress rehearsal, instruction, costume and makeup guidance, two performance opportunities, Fall Festival admission, parking, water during classes, and access to available group photos and video. Registration is nonrefundable but may be transferred to another eligible participant with advance permission from Jack Frost Museum before classes begin.
